Understanding what is known as Trauma-Informed Care is fundamentally different from adopting Trauma-Aware Approaches and building a Trauma-Aware System. While Trauma-Informed Care addresses the “What and the Why ” (What it is and why it is important), Trauma-Aware Approach focuses on the “How ” (How to practice Trauma-Informed Care). These two modalities work together, however, there is an imbalance in our society's approach to trauma care and more Trauma-Aware Approaches are needed throughout every level of our systems of care!
